PROGRAM OVERVIEW

1Discipline Introduction

As a first-class discipline of Shenzhen University, Management Science and Engineering faces the practical problems of management engineering such as intelligent decision-making, system engineering and logistics supply chain in the new era. Based on innovative thinking, this major integrates disciplines such as Management Science, Information Science, Financial Technology and System Science to explore scientific laws that are able to reflect objective practice, so as to realize the advantageous discipline of effective utilization of resources.This discipline has formed five distinctive and fruitful research directions, with relatively stable full-time teachers, discipline leaders and academic backbone teams with reasonable scale and structure, such as "Intelligent Optimization and Decision-Making","Management System and Engineering","Supply Chain and Logistics Engineering","Internet and Information Management", and "Financial Technology and Service Engineering".

2Educational Objectives

Based on Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Socialist Leading Demonstration Area, this major assists students to face the whole country and the world. It aims to cultivate high-level talents in the field of Comprehensive Management Science and Engineering with strong professional foundation, strong sense of innovation, wide application and high comprehensive quality, and integrate morality and talents into the Three-Wide Education Construction Project. It enables students to systematically study the theories, methods and technologies of Management Science, and skillfully use relevant theories and methods to analyze and solve the problems of Management Decision-Making and System Engineering in reality. Professionals who can engage in management practice or teaching and scientific research in government agency, enterprises and institutions and colleges and universities.

1. It requires students to master the basic theory of Marxism, establish a scientific world outlook, adhere to the four basic principles, abide by discipline and law, to have good moral character, to have strong dedication and dedication, and actively serve the modernization of the motherland.

2. It requires students to have solid and broad basic theory and systematic and in-depth professional knowledge, and to understand the research status and development objects of the discipline at home and abroad. Students should be able to engage in scientific research independently and have creative opinions or achievements in theory or application.

3. It requires students to master a foreign language, to be able to charge a skillful foreign language to read the professional literature, and to have a certain writing ability and the ability of international academic exchange. As a discipline integrating management and technology, theory and practice, the students trained in this discipline need to be trained and improved in the following aspects to meet the corresponding learning requirements in the specific scientific research work as follows,

(1) Academic norms: Students should be able to follow academic norms in the process of research design and scientific experiment, to have solid academic literacy, to have a rigorous and pragmatic scientific spirit, to ensure integrity in thesis writing, quote content norms, and eliminate plagiarism and plagiarism of others' views.

(2) Academic ethics: Students are required to adhere to the moral bottom line of scientific research, to ensure that the research content meets the ethical requirements, and to attach great importance to academic ethics.

(3) Research methodology: Students are required to master the research methodology of this discipline, to be able to choose relevant theories reasonably to explain the problems in management experiment, to be good at refining scientific problems, and to choose reasonable methods to solve research problems.

(4) Technical and analytical skills: Students are required to skillfully use quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques, to be able to comprehensively use information technology means to complete the intermediate processes such as the analysis of research data and the refinement of research ideas, and to have solid and reliable academic basic ability.

(5) Critical thinking: Students are required to be able to examine the research problems from a systematic perspective, to establish a stable logical chain in the process of scientific exploration, and to be good at organizing the research framework.

(6) Innovation ability: Students are required to have strong academic innovation ability, and to be able to analyze and discuss from a new perspective according to the forefront of management practice and theory.

(7) Communication skills: Students are required to fluent in Chinese and English, to be able to explain academic ideas clearly and methodically, and to understand the basic etiquette and skills of international academic exchanges.

(8) Writing ability: Students are required to be able to clarify ideas logically, clearly and accurately in written form, and to be able to write Chinese and English academic papers independently.

3Training direction

This discipline has formed five distinctive and fruitful research directions,  with relatively stable full-time teachers, discipline leaders and academic backbone teams with reasonable scale and structure.

Direction 1: Intelligent Optimization and Decision-Making

This direction focuses on the practical optimization and decision-making problems in the field of management science, and conduct research by using the methods of Swarm Intelligence Computing, feature engineering technology, big data analysis and intelligent decision-making, so as to form characteristics in the aspects of big data and intelligent medical treatment, customer intelligent recommendation, intelligent innovation and ect..

Direction 2: Management System and Engineering

This direction pays attention to the academic frontier issues of management system and engineering, and carry out research by using mathematical and simulation modeling and optimization analysis, data-driven modeling and empirical analysis, so as to form characteristics in production and service scheduling, resource and environmental management, manufacturing and environmental engineering, etc.

Direction 3: Supply Chain and Logistics Engineering

This direction aims at the academic problems in the theoretical methods of Supply Chain Management and the practice of Logistics Engineering Industry, the theoretical methods and industry application research are carried out by using the methods of Mathematical Modeling, Algorithm Research, Statistical Measurement, Policy Analysis and questionnaire survey. This research direction strives to be indomitable, realize the combination of supply chain theory and method innovation and practical services in the logistics industry, pursue the innovation of supply chain theory and method, and pay attention to the solution of practical problems in the logistics industry.

Direction 4: Internet and Information Management

This direction adapts to the development trend of big data technology and Internet economy, and it adopts the empirical methods of big data analysis and questionnaire survey to study the information dissemination and management in the context of the Internet. It forms characteristics in the aspects of online brand community social network, UGC user participation behavior, social recommendation system of scientific research experts, etc.

Direction 5: Financial Technology and Service Engineering

This direction focuses on the interdisciplinary frontier of Digital Finance, Artificial Intelligence and Management Science.  It faces the urgent practical needs of preventing and resolving financial risks. This discipline explores the financial innovation and service mode driven by digital technology, and explores the methods of financial risk identification, monitoring and prevention and control driven by big data, so as to form characteristics in financial asset pricing and risk management, service support in innovation and entrepreneurship, etc. It provides intellectual support for the development of financial innovation and the construction of risk intelligent prevention and control system in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

4Academic system and maximum length of study

Students are able to enroll in the program via the enrollment system by the International Exchange College. The successful applicants who pass the "application assessment system" are able to enroll in the Ph.D. program with 3 years, and they should complete the Ph.D. program within 5 years. Ph.D. students who meet the requirements of the discipline cultivation plan may apply for graduation half a year or one year in advance with the approval of their supervisors, but the academic year limit shall not be less than 2 years.

5Training methods

1.The cultivation of graduate students is a combination of supervisors with responsibility and collective cultivation. The student's supervisor is the first person in charge for the cultivation of graduate students, who provides all-round and targeted guidance for the whole process of postgraduate cultivation. Colleges and degree centers have the obligation to play the role of collective training and monitoring in the key links such as the formulation of postgraduate training plan, course learning, mid-term comprehensive assessment, dissertation proposal, mid-term assessment  and pre-defense.

2.The cultivation of Ph.D. students adopts the way of combining theoretical study with scientific research and focusing on scientific research. The cultivation of postgraduates is mainly within the primary discipline, encourage innovative training models, and support students to participate more in academic exchanges and international cooperative research.

He is the associate dean of College of Management of the SZU and he is a PhD supervisor, professor and an outstanding scholar of Shenzhen University. Previously, he worked as a visiting scholar at the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom, Arizona State University in the United States, Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand, postdoctoral fellow at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and postdoctoral fellow at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In recent years, he has won a number of academic honors, such as being selected as the second batch of "Hong Kong Scholars" in the mainland china, the "China-UK Innovation Leading Talents" of the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the top 2% of the world's scientific influence in 2019. He had 6 projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 4 projects supported by Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, 2 projects supported by China Postdoctoral Science Foundation (1 special funded), and more than 10 other provincial or municipal projects. His researches mainly include artificial intelligence, big data analysis, information systems and information management, operations research and optimization, logistics and supply chain management, smart medical and other multidisciplinary scientific research work. He had published more than 170 high quality papers, 9 research monographs or books, 7 patents and software copyrights, won over 20 outstanding paper awards or other various academic awards, such as the Best Paper Awards in the International Conference of Swarm Intelligence (ICSI), International Conference of Intelligent Computing (ICIC), and Management Conference of China.

Prof. Jianwu JIANG is Professor as well as the associate dean of Management at Shenzhen University. He was visiting scholar of the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania and University of Missouri at St. Louis. He is also a member of advisory committee of City University of Macau.

Prof. Jianwu JIANG earned his Ph.D.in the field of human resource management from the joint PhD program by Arizona State University, USA, and Nanjing University, China. He is a member of Academy of Management, and International Association of Chinese Management Research. He is serving as Editorial Review Board of International Journal of Human Resource Management, Current Psychology, Journal of Managerial Psychology, Chinese Journal of Management, etc.

Prof. Jianwu JIANG’s research interests focus on strategic human resource management, gig economy, employment relationship, and organization innovation. He has published over 40 articles in SSCI and Chinese-SSCI journals of management such as the International Journal of Human Resource Management, Current Psychology etc. One of his scholarly workDoes HRM facilitate employee creativity and organizational innovation?  Professor Lin Xudong is the doctoral director, director of the professor committee of the college, member of the Teaching Steering Committee of E-Commerce major in undergraduate colleges and universities in Guangdong Province, the "Ten Thousand" Provincial Training Object in Guangdong Province, and Local High-Level Talents in Shenzhen. The main research fields include digital economy, data governance, financial technology, etc., focusing on the analysis of basic theoretical issues such as financial market, data pricing and platform supervision with big data and information technology. In recent years, he has presided over 3 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 1 national Soft Science Research Plan Project, 1 General humanities and Social Sciences project of the Ministry of education and 2 provincial soft science projects. He has published 1 academic monograph, published more than 50 academic theories in domestic and foreign academic journals, 16 SCI / SSCI searches and more than 20 CSSCI searches, and cited the results more than 800 times. He earned his Ph.D with specialty in Supply Chain Management from department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His specialty is within Operations management, especially in Supply Chain Logistics Management. He has published more than 100 papers including leading journal papers, conference proceedings. He has also published a monograph in the Springer Press. He has served as investigator and co-investigator for more than 20 grants including 8 grants from National Natural Science Foundation of China. Dr. Yanchun Pan is the Dean of the College of International Exchange (CIE) at Shenzhen University (SZU), and a professor and doctoral supervisor at the College of Management, Shenzhen University. He got his Ph.D. degree from Beihang University, and used to be the visiting scholar at Georgia Institute of Technology and Indiana State University. Dr. Pan was honored as an Outstanding Young Teacher in higher education institutions of Guangdong Province and a high-level talent in Shenzhen City. He is also the Vice Chairman of the Guangdong Society of Systems Engineering, and the Vice Chairman of the Guangdong Association for Modernization of Technology, Economy and Management. Dr. Pan is an anonymous review expert for a number of international journals such as Transportation Research, International Journal of Production Research, Applied Energy, and Energy Policy. He hosted two National Natural Science Foundation projects, five provincial and ministerial level projects, and four enterprise commissioned projects. Dr. Pan published over 60 academic papers indexed by SCI/SSCI/EI. Three of his management cases were honored as the Top 100 Excellent Management Cases in China. More than 30 teaching and research awards have been awarded to him, including the MBA Outstanding Teacher and Excellent Paper Award.

Zhimin Zhou is a Professor of Marketing of College of Management at Shenzhen University. He obtained his PhD from Sun Yat-Sen University in 2003. Jingbo Yuan is an associate professor of the School of Management of Shenzhen University, deputy head of the Department of Marketing, postgraduate supervisor and postdoctoral co-supervisor. He obtained his PhD from Wuhan University and University of South Carolina, and was selected as a high-level talent in Shenzhen. He once served as business analyst and project manager of Huawei Company, and has accumulated rich experience in management practice. At present, he has led many projects including National Natural Science Foundation, National Social Science Foundation, Humanities and Social Sciences Foundation of the Ministry of Education, and many provincial and municipal projects, the funding for research is adequate. He has served as an expert reviewer for the National Natural Science Foundation of China and a reviewer for several academic journals. His research papers have won the second prize of the 8th Institute of Higher Education Scientific Research Outstanding Achievement Award (Humanities and Social Sciences) by the Ministry of Education, Excellent Paper Award of Chinese Academic Conference of Management, as well as many other awards. Research Interest: Management cognition, institutional evolution, strategic management, corporate governance, organizational change and leadership in the Chinese context. He has hosted 3 National Natural Science Foundation of China and more than 10 other research projects, published 60 papers in academic journals and academic conferences. He was selected as one of the "Shenzhen High-level Professional Talents" (2017), the 1st national "Excellent Case Study Teacher" (China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center, 2019), and the Deputy Secretary General of China Strategic Management Society. From 2009 to 2010, he worked in the General Office of China Sinochem Group.

He is currently working on the following projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China:

耿爽,博士,深圳大學管理學院管理科學系助理教授,碩士生導師,2018年獲得香港城市大學系統工程與工程管理專業哲學博士學位,英國巴斯大學訪問學者。長期致力于智能推薦和多模態用戶數據挖掘方法的基礎理論研究,并開展了新方法與智慧教育、數字營銷領域前沿課題相結合的交叉創新研究,現主持及參與國家自然科學基金2項、中國博士后基金項目1項、廣東省資助項目3項、深圳市資助項目2項。 以第一作者和通訊作者身份發表SSCI/SCI/CSSCI檢索論文13篇(一作9篇,JCR一區6篇),EI檢索論文5篇,出版專著3部,總學術引用353次,單篇最高引用139次(Google scholar)。

She was visiting scholar of College of Management, Bath University, UK. I am the professor in College of Management, Shenzhen University. I have successively won some titles, such as the top young talents of scientific and technological innovation of Guangdong special support plan, high-level talents of Shenzhen City and outstanding scholars of Shenzhen University. My research focus on energy economics and environmental management, management decision-making and operations research, data-driven complex system modeling. I have published more than 60 papers in high-level academic journals. More than 50 publications are indexed by SSCI / SCI. These journal includes Environmental & Resource Economics, Ecological Economics, Energy Economics,   IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, Computers & Operations Research, Energy Policy and Applied Energy. I am a principal investigator of about ten projects, which include 3 National Natural Science Foundation of China and 2 the MOE (Ministry of Education in China) Project of Humanities and Social Science.

In the past five years, she focused on the study of intelligent optimization and management decision-making, had proposed a series of new optimization methods, and applied those new theories and methods to real-world applications. Her researches mainly include artificial intelligence, data mining, machine learning, customer classification, product recommendation, and medical aid diagnosis, etc. In related fields, she has completed two research monographs, and published more than 40 papers in high-quality journals such as International Journal of Intelligent Systems (SCI JCR Q1, IF= 10.312) , Swarm and Evolutionary Computation (SCI JCR Q1, IF=7.10, Knowledge-based Systems (SCI JCR Q1, IF=5.101), Neurocomputing (SCI JCR Q1IF=4.072). In terms of academic achievement conversion, she designed and developed a new medical big data analysis and intelligent diagnosis platform based on swarm intelligence, which has been authorized the software copyright. Associate Professor Lin Meiyan has been deeply involved in the field of elderly care for a long time, conducting research from two main directions: one, is the operation and management of elderly care services, focusing on the operational management issues of elderly care institutions under the "strategic long-term deployment - tactical stage planning - operational daily practice" model of home based elderly care and institutional elderly care. The other is to focus on the supply chain management of aging products, with a focus on researching decisions such as pricing, ordering, and inventory management that consider the behavior and preferences of the elderly and the preferences of aging product suppliers.

Dr. Feng Yuanyue is the associate professor, Ph.D. supervisor at Shenzhen University. He graduated with a Ph.D. in Information Systems from the National University of Singapore and was selected as the "Peacock Program" for overseas high-level talents in Shenzhen, a high-level talent (reserve level), and a "Pilot Talent" in Nanshan District. Currently he serves as the Head of the Department of Management Science at the College of Management, the Associate Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Research Center at Shenzhen University, and the Distinguished Researcher at the Greater Bay Area International Institute for Innovation in Shenzhen University. In recent years, he has mainly engaged in interdisciplinary research across the fields of information systems, e-commerce, and innovation and entrepreneurship, including intelligent information systems user behavior, gamified marketing, live streaming e-commerce, crowdfunding, and crowdsourcing management. He has published over 40 SCI/SSCI/EI papers in internationally prestigious journals in the fields of information systems, e-commerce, innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as in the proceedings of top conferences in the field of information systems (such as ICIS, AMCIS, HICSS, and PACIS). 賴曉凡,深圳大學管理學院教授,博士生導師,管理科學系副系主任,本碩博分別畢業于華南理工大學、中山大學和香港理工大學,畢業后歷任香港科技大學博士后研究員和中山大學副研究員。2021年入選深圳市海外高層次“孔雀計劃”人才(C類),2022年被評為深圳大學“新銳研究生導師”。在IJOC(UTD24)、TRB、EJOR、TRE、IJPE、FEM等運籌學管理科學、交通運輸領域的頂級或權威學術期刊上發表論文近三十篇,主持國家、省部及企業委托等級別的科研與教研項目二十余項,其中國家自然科學基金項目兩項,包括面上項目和青年項目(后評估優秀),擔任國家自然科學基金重點項目子課題負責人,參與十余項國家級、香港特區政府等各類課題,研究成果獲教育部高等學校科學研究優秀成果三等獎、廣東省哲學社會科學優秀成果一等獎、廣東省財政廳2021年財政科研課題結項二等獎、第二十次/第二十二次中國物流學術年會論文三等獎等,申請發明專利兩項(實質審核中)。

感興趣的研究方向:運籌優化、管理科學、人工智能、數據科學的理論與方法及其在智慧城市、智慧企業運營、物流與供應鏈管理、交通運輸管理和旅游管理等方面的交叉應用。

采用的研究方法包括(但不限于):運籌優化、管理科學、博弈論、人工智能、大數據分析等。

英文簡介

Xiaofan LAI is currently a Professor in the College of Management, Shenzhen University. He obtained his PhD degree from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Master degree from Sun Yat-sen University, and Bachelor degree from South China University of Technology. His research focuses on the application of operations research and data science theories to problems in smart operation management, logistics and supply chain management, etc. He has published nearly thirty articles in mainly journals, including IJOC(UTD24)TRBEJORTREIJPEFEM, etc.

Operations Research, Management Science, AI and Data Science Theories and Methods, and Their Applications in Smart Operation Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Multi-Modal Transportation and Tourism Management etc.
